Crafting with Apps: Word Art in Apple’s Keychain
Apple’s Keychain is a feature of macOS that allows users to store and access important information, such as passwords, credit card numbers, and identification documents. One lesser-known use of Keychain is the ability to create word art using custom text.
To create word art using Keychain, follow these steps:
- Open the Keychain app on your Mac. You can do this by searching for “Keychain” in Spotlight or by going to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Keychain.
- Click on the “Edit” button at the top of the Keychain window. This will allow you to add new entries or modify existing ones.
- In the middle of the window, you’ll see a text field where you can enter your custom text. You can also use the drop-down menu next to the text field to choose from a variety of fonts and colors.
- Once you have entered your custom text, click on one of the icons at the bottom of the window to apply your changes: “Lock,” “Warning,” or “Note.” These options will allow you to assign different levels of security for your word art depending on how sensitive it is. For example, if you want to keep your word art private and don’t want anyone else to see it without entering your password first, select “Lock.” If you want to remind yourself about something important but don’t mind others seeing it, choose “Warning.” And if you just want to leave a note for yourself but don’t mind others seeing it either, go with “Note.”
- After selecting an option, click on one of the buttons at the top of the window to save your changes: “Add,” “Cancel,” or “Done.” The changes will be saved immediately in Keychain so you can access them whenever you need them later on macOS or iOS devices that have iCloud Drive enabled (if applicable).
