A Word Cloud is a visual representation of the most frequent words in a text. In this article, we will show you how to create stunning word clouds on Mac using various tools.
Step 1: Choose Your Font
The first step in creating a word cloud is choosing your font. You can choose from many fonts available online or download a free font from a website such as Google Fonts.
Step 2: Choose Your Text
Once you have chosen your font, you need to choose your text. This can be done by pasting the text into your word processing software or typing it out on your computer.
Step 3: Open Your Text Editor
Open your text editor and type out the text that you want to create the word cloud for. Make sure to include any necessary formatting such as bullet points, headings, and tables.
Step 4: Install Some Free Software
To create a stunning word cloud on Mac, you will need to install some free software. There are several options available, but one of the most popular is TextWrangler. To install TextWrangler, open the Terminal app and type:
sudo apt-get install xming
This will install Xingmang.exe on your computer.
Step 5: Create Your Word Cloud
Once TextWrangler is installed, open it up and select File > New > Macro (in my experience this takes some experimenting until you find it). Then click on “Macro” in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Select “Run As…” and select “Administrator” in the drop-down menu. Then click “Run”.
Now we can start creating our word cloud!
Click “Go”, then drag and drop our text file onto WordCloud (in my experience this takes some experimenting until you find it).
Next click on “Add Image File(s)” and select “Open” for any images that you want to add to your word cloud.
Click on “Apply Font…/” and select one of the fonts that we chose earlier (or another one if desired).
Next click on “Apply Style…/” and select one of the styles that we created earlier (or another one if desired).
Now we are ready to save our work! Click on “File > Save As” then choose where you want to save our word cloud and give it a descriptive name such as “My Word Cloud”.
Congratulations! You have successfully created a stunning word cloud using Mac’s free tools.
